Our fifth and sixth sites, which serves two public high schools with an estimated 1,800 students, is dedicated to providing comprehensive adolescent health care.
Our comprehensive health care model offers patients the following services:
- School/sports/summer camp physicals
- Well and sick visits
- Immunizations
- Tuberculosis screeningsHearing/vision screenings
- Gynecologic services
- Referrals to specialists as needed
- Medical management for chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes and HIV/AIDS
- On-call services twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week
Child Advocacy and Mental Health
Although primary care is our main focus, we have realized that many of our families have pressing non-medical needs. As a result, our program includes social services. All of our patients with mental health, advocacy or social service needs are referred to the Child Advocacy and Mental Health (CAMH) Coordinator who will assist them in obtaining services that will further support the health care provided by the Mobile Clinic. Additionally, our CAMH Coordinator is instrumental in helping children reach needed special educational services provided by the school system. In this way, the KIDS Mobile Medical Clinic helps to ensure that each child receives truly comprehensive care.

Education and Outreach
Education is a key to prevention and wellness for both the individual and the community. Our staff spends a significant portion of each visit educating families on prevention and other healthcare related issues. In the community, as well as in the high schools we serve, we are reaching out by offering education sessions to community residents on general topics such as asthma, immunizations, and nutrition. The KIDS Mobile Medical Clinic is a regular participant in health fairs, immunization campaigns, and other outreach activities throughout the wards we serve. This outreach offers us visibility to both those who need our services and those community service organizations that wish to partner with us to provide more comprehensive services to the children in the District of Columbia.
